The Three Pillars of One Bicycle Foundation
Poor children are often the most marginalized members of their communities. With the right tools, they have the potential to achieve great things and lead a successful life.
Long walks make simple tasks like going to school, to the hospital, or to work a struggle. Bicycles are the solution by providing a fast and safe mode of transportation.
Education means investing in one’s future. Access to education empowers a youth with the knowledge and tools to change their lives. Often in developing countries, the only barrier to an education, work and healthcare is distance and access.

THE NEED
Distance is a barrier to education. For many young students in developing countries, walking is the only mode of transportation and education is the only path to a secure future. Yet students between 8 and 18 years old must walk hours just to get to school. The distance combined with other obligations, like fetching water and delivering produce to the market, makes completing school almost impossible. In addition, young girls spending long periods of time alone on the road are victims of sexual assault. This culminates in students struggling to maintain consistent school attendance and adequate academic performance leading to high dropout rates, the perpetuation of poverty, and the inability to achieve their dreams.
OUR RESPONSE
The One Bicycle Foundation changes lives through bicycle empowerment. Bicycles are powerful tools for change that provide safe, reliable and fast access to education, jobs, and healthcare in regions where the lack of the aforementioned services leads to a continuous cycle of poverty. Geographical isolation of marginalized groups from vital opportunities is a widespread problem and the most cost-effective solution is bicycles.
Each incredibly durable bicycle from our partners at World Bicycle Relief is $170 which comes with a toolkit, lock, helmet, and warranty.
