Recipient Highlight: Ochieng’

Smiling faces and happiness was everywhere when 110 girls and boys received bicycles from the One Bicycle Foundation this past December!

Ochieng’, one of the recipients, is 13 years old and in 7th grade. Her smile speaks volumes on the impact of bicycles. Her bike helps reduce her 1 hour commute to school to only 20 minutes. She says that she’s no longer late to class and she can go to school 5 days a week instead of 3. She helps her elderly parents by fetching water and carrying goods from the market.

Most of all, she says her shoes don’t get “old faster” and she doesn’t have to worry about being bothered by “bad men” during her solo walk to school.

She wants to be a teacher when she grows up and says “I will be attending my classes everyday with my bicycle.”

Because of our donors, she has a fast, safe and reliable mode of transportation. Bicycles are connecting girls like Ochieng’ to their dreams.

We need your help! Give now and empower a young student with a bicycle!
