We are thrilled to announce that with a generous donation from the Rotary Club of Glendale, CA (Noon) and the funds we raised from our Bikes 4 Orphans BBQ Ride with Velo Pasadena, we were able to deliver an additional 25 bicycles to the Matungu Community Development Charity in Kenya. To date we have donated 45 bicycles to this all girls orphanage.
Before our delivery, these girls were subject to sexual harassment and harsh conditions as they walked over two hours to school and back. This was after they had to fulfill their daily domestic chores early in the morning. NO ONE should ever be subjected to those conditions just because they want to pursue an education.
With bicycles, the commute time is reduced by 75% and these girls now have access to a safe, reliable, and efficient mode of transportation.
Providing bicycles directly empowers these orphans with the knowledge and tools they need to change their lives.
